Specific Phobia Under the Brief Strategic Therapy
Abstract
Specific phobias are among the most common anxiety disorders. During the pandemic, a higher prevalence of the disease has been reported among the population. The objective of the study was to implement a therapeutic intervention to prevent clinical symptoms associated with phobias in patients. Strategic brief therapy was found in the scientific literature to be a form of psychotherapy that has been shown to be effective in the treatment of specific phobias. This article describes a clinical case of a 33 year old woman living in Argentina with this disorder. Eight virtual sessions were conducted using Brief Strategies Therapy, an integrative model with a qualitative single case design of psychotherapeutic interventions. As a result, the relevant clinical symptoms were fully resolved and treatment was successful with clinical and psychotherapeutic significance beyond the phobia and stated treatment goals.
